After working in the same place for 18 of some 20 years, I changed careers. The company was going down in flames again and I didn’t want to be unemployed once again (why only 18 of 20). Being a Software/Firmware Engineer was a good run. Now I’m doing IT as a System Consultant out In Oil & Gas Fields of Wyoming. I get a lot of “Windshield Time” and drive on a lot of bad roads with nasty weather. I spend my free time supporting everything for this website, never ending home remodel projects, and various outdoor activites.
As for our websites, we do all our own hosting from a server in the basement. Most of the hardware from the IBM Quad PIII server to the webcamera is second hand outdated equipment, but hey it was cheap.
